Global dance showcase @ International House

There was a short but fasinating international dance performance in IHouse tonight, which features Latin, Indian, Irish, Greek, Israeli, African and Hip-Hop. Participating organizations: Sruti, The India Music & Dance Society; Society Hill Dance Academy; SAOIRSE Dance and Drama; Lisanga Ya Bana Kin; University City Arts League; Hellenic Heritage Dance Group.

The couple dancers from society hill dance academy were so HOT (no kidding!) when they were dancing brazilian samba and spanish paso doble. The male dancer was young, handsome and powerful. His partner matched his every fast but rhythmic movement, which was sensual. Her dressing of black leather was fabulous. They excited the whole house.

Inidan dancing is well known for its tradition. there are rich elements of facial expressions, eye and neck movements, while Israeli (or similarly Arabian) belly dance uses a lot of waist movements. When those old (or mid-aged) Irish ladies came on the stage, from saoirse celtic performance troupe, I think I was disappointed, because they were just too old. But they actually were wonderful dancers, especially the lead lady and the only guy who is about 60 years old too. The lead lady did a great job to performance a solo ti-ta broadway dance, quite impressive. The guy even did a little bit ballet in a later time.
